The Support Section of the Justice Bureau is
comprised of Civilians, Correction Officers, a Correction
Lieutenant and a Deputy Sheriff with the rank of Captain.
The Support Section is broken down into nine different
areas:
1. Warehouse:
The warehouse is managed by a correctional officer and holds
supplies for the entire Sheriff’s Office. The Correctional
Officer oversees any and all movement of materials in and
out of the warehouse. The warehouse is responsible for
providing hygiene supplies to the inmates.
2. Inmate
Workers:
The Support Section is responsible for providing Inmate
Workers to different areas of the jail. A Correctional
Officer is assigned as the Inmate Worker Coordinator. His
responsibilities are to provide 130 male and 8 female Inmate
Workers for various duties such as, Kitchen Workers, Car
Washers, Sanitation Workers, Housing Unit Workers and some
Inmates are assigned workers for cities police departments
inside the county.
3. Inmate
Kitchen: The Inmate Kitchen is supervised by
correctional officers who insure the following:
a.
Proper number of meals are prepared
b.
Quality of food prepared is up to standards
c.
Proper cleanliness
The kitchen prepared

4. Infirmary:
The Support Section is responsible for providing security
for the Infirmary staff as they perform special treatments
on inmates.

5. Sanitation:
The Support Section is responsible for all sanitation in
the Sheriff’s portion of the Justice Complex which include,
waxing of floors, maintaining cleanliness in administrative
offices and the Inmate showers.
6. Dock
Receiving: The support Section is responsible for
checking in and inspecting all deliveries to the dock. Such
Deliveries include but are not limited to, kitchen supplies,
warehouse supplies, etc.
7. Work
Release: Support is responsible for the Work Release
Program at the Sheriff’s Office. Work Release consists of 8
correctional officers and is managed by the Work Release
Coordinator.
Work release maintains inmates who are
sentenced to work release by the courts. Each inmate
accepted into the work release programs must pay room and
board fees to the Sheriff’s Office.
Work Release also maintains inmates who are
sentenced to time to done on weekends.

8. Contractor
Escorts/Maintenance Escorts: Support is responsible for
escorting Contractors or any other outside company
throughout the secured part of the building.

9. Classifications
Section: The Support Section has an Administrative
Clerical Staff comprised of a Deputy with the rank of
Lieutenant, one Deputy Sheriff, a Civilian Supervisor, and
ten Sheriff’s Service Clerks. Hours of operation for these
staff members vary with the function they serve and needs of
the agency. This section ensures that inmates are housed
according to an Inmate Classification System and that all
Inmate records are kept up to date. The Classifications
section also keeps track of court related paperwork and
sentence calculations to ensure inmates are only
incarcerated for the amount of time required. |
