The Facility Protection Division is a part
of the Sheriff's Office's Enforcement Bureau. It is
comprised of one Captain, two Lieutenants, three Sergeants, several Deputies,
a Service Clerk, and over eighty Sheriff's Court Security
Officer's and Bailiffs. The Facility Protection
Division
provides Deputy Sheriff's to staff 15 full-time courtrooms
including Superior Courts, State Courts, Magistrate Courts
and Juvenile Courts in both the Harold Banke Justice Complex
and at the Courthouse Annex III. The Facility
Protection Division also mans a security post at the Harold Banke
Justice Complex. In addition, the Facility Protection Division
provides Deputies for Probate Court, four Municipal Courts and
several additional courtrooms for special sessions. |

The Facility Protection Division also moves
in-custody inmates to and from the various courts as needed
and transports juvenile offenders from the Regional Youth
Detention Center (R. Y. D. C.) to both the Juvenile Courts
and the Superior Courts. Selected Sheriff's Court
Security Officers operate the court holding cells adjacent
to the courtrooms where inmates are held prior to entering
the appropriate courtroom for trial. The Court
Security Officers also operate the Central Control Room
touch screen computer which controls the inmate elevators,
holding cells, intercoms and duress alarms. This Court
Security Officer also monitors various alarms throughout the
courthouse complex such as stairwell access and fire alarms. |
